Young coding talents at the DSA Kids' Day
Programming is fun. That's the experience of the boys and girls who visited DSA on 27 April 2023 during this year's Aachen Girls' & Boys' Day or DSA Kids' Day. Not only did they get a little insight into the company, where some of the children's parents work, but above all into the world of coding and the related job profile.
They had the opportunity to give coding a try themselves. After a short introduction to the topic of programming and getting to know electronic components, they worked in groups to find solutions to various challenges. Using the components, small circuits had to be constructed. With self-written small programs (so-called sketches), the previously built hardware should be operated. The DSA apprentices supported them and gave useful tips on how to solve the tasks, depending on the level of knowledge of the young guests.
The apprentice colleagues who had developed the tasks for the workshop also enjoyed the day. For them, it was an exciting experience to break down the basics to different levels in the tasks and to pass them on.
With the results of the workshop, the kids impressed not only their supervisors. We look forward to seeing the young IT talents again in a few years for an internship or even an apprenticeship at DSA.
