As a wireless diagnostic communication interface, the DE-4 connects the vehicle's electrical system with an external diagnostic application.
Plugged into the vehicle, the compact device builds up a connection with the test computer via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. With optional diagnostic components, some parts of the test sequence, e.g. flashing of ECUs, are executed on the device itself.
Thanks to an integrated energy storage, continuous running of the application is possible even in the event of a temporary interruption of the power supply or while changing vehicles.
Configuration is carried out via a separately available configuration station. If equipped with a magnetic connector on the rear, the configuration can be done via an optional adapter cable on the PC.
In the agricultural and construction machinery production, the DE-4 is used as a remote VCI. The integrated energy storage allows to switch between different machines without disruption.
In the commercial vehicle production, the DE-4 is used as a remote VCI. The device remains connected to the vehicle on several takts and allows continuous vehicle diagnostics independent from the location of the vehicle.
In the automotive production, the DE-4 can be used as a circulating adapter. The device remains connected to the vehicle on several takts and allows continuous vehicle diagnostics that is not restricted to a specific location.
Software and hardware of the DE-4 support all common vehicle buses and diagnostic protocols via the D-PDU API standard/PRODIS.PDU (ISO 22900-2):
The OBD plug socket of the DE-4 can be configured to customer specifications and allows easy adaptation to the pin assignment of the vehicle interface. In case of wearing out, the plug socket is easily replaceable. Integrated RFID tags make it easy to connect to HMI devices (NFC tag) and detect losses via long range RFID.
