Music and Dialogue for Europe: DSA Once Again Supports the Cultural Programme Surrounding the 2026 Charlemagne Prize

Through its commitment to the International Charlemagne Prize in Aachen, DSA once again contributed to a diverse and publicly accessible supporting programme accompanying the award ceremony for this year’s Charlemagne Prize winner, Prof. Mario Draghi. The programme focused on cultural exchange, European dialogue and public events in the heart of Aachen.

On the eve of the award ceremony, the Katschhof square between Aachen Cathedral and the Town Hall was transformed into a vibrant European stage. Numerous initiatives, information stands and cultural activities brought Europe’s diversity to life. The highlight of the evening was the open-air programme featuring Italian DJ Adelaid, an exchange between the winners of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize and Mario Draghi, followed by a concert by singer-songwriter Michael Schulte.

The freely accessible events made the Charlemagne Prize visible throughout the city beyond the official ceremony itself and created opportunities for dialogue and exchange. Culture, music and public discussions brought together people of different generations and underlined the unifying power of the European idea.

Over several weeks, the accompanying programme explored Europe, European cohesion and the future challenges facing the European Union. It also included the Europe Conference supported by DSA, which focused on current European challenges and future perspectives. The programme was complemented by readings, exhibitions and public cultural events at the Katschhof, bringing together numerous citizens and visitors.

Europe thrives on exchange between people. By supporting the accompanying programme, DSA helps create room for dialogue and encounter while making the European idea visible in everyday social life.
