In the ongoing semester, DSA supports the RWTH Aachen for the first time in offering and realizing an internship for students of computer science. Like many other events, in this semester the internship takes place online. In a kick-off event via zoom conference at the end of October, the tutors introduced the students to the tasks. Additionally, representatives of DSA explained the development environment for Vehicle Connectivity Gateways, VCG and presented what DSA does in this area.
About 30 students will develop solutions for cooperative driving of vehicles on the road. For this purpose they use a software simulation for navigation and driving behaviour and combine this with three VCG boxes, which communicate with each other via four CAN busses. The development is model-based and uses source code generators to which the VCG development environment is connected.
At present, it can be assumed that the next semester will also be dominated by online courses. However, the coordinators hope to meet the students personally soon.
