Spring Hackathon 2016

Hackathon 2016

On April 29 and 30 the Spring Hackathon took place organized by the Gründerzentrum of the RWTH Aachen University. We were there again as sponsor to present our challenge. The event was a record of participation with more than 100 students, around 30 of those decided to follow the DSA track. We are always happy to see how much interest our company arouses between the students.

The DSA challenge was to create an Android app that uses the data reported from several vehicles using the VCG (Vehicle Connectivity Gateway) that provided information like the current GPS location or real-time vehicle data. From that point, the creativity and the motivation were the leaders of the whole night, ending up into a variety of innovative ideas and solutions.

The winner team WenusLAN worked on the idea of an application to promote save and efficient driving among the drivers in a company fleet. It would be done by means of a ranking between the drivers taking into account their driving patterns. The price for the winners was an Android smartwatch for each member of the team.

It was a great experience to meet, talk and exchange impressions with the participants and also with the other sponsors. We are looking forward to join more events like this!
