This white paper introduces the upcoming standard Service Oriented Vehicle Diagnostics (SOVD). Changes in vehicle hardware, infrastructure, usage profiles and the continued increase in software complexity, creates a need for new diagnostic interfaces, which are more abstract than, for example, Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS).
