The PRODIS Process

The PRODIS Diagnostic & Flash Programming Process has been developed to support the engineering, manufacturing and service departments to assure company-wide availability of vehicle system diagnostic data and vehicle specific programming data.

The PRODIS Tool Suite is dedicated to company wide horizontal diagnostic and flash programming application integration with full consideration of industry standards. Diagnostic data and flash programming sequences are developed once and are tested on prototype systems or vehicles. As part of the internal release process the information will be made available to all diagnostic stakeholders.

The established engineering development processes will be optimised by the installation of the PRODIS products (Lean Engineering with Electronic System Supplier Integration). Major reduction of redundant diagnostic data and flash programming test sequence authoring can be achieved by using the PRODIS Tool Suite.

The D-Kernel, equipped with D-Server API, D-PDU API, and SAE J2534 Pass-Thru API processes ODX compatible diagnostic data and communicates those via Modular VCI compliant interfaces and testers connected to the vehicle. The data communication enfolds all standardised and many manufacturer-specific protocols.

Avoidance of multiple entry diagnostic data and the development of flash programming sequences in engineering, manufacturing and service result in time and cost savings.

The PRODIS Tool Suite consists of the following software modules:

PRODIS.Authoring is a comprehensive system for the creation and maintenance of diagnostic data and applications. The framework supports scalability between a local PC installation and a global client/server deployment. The modular architecture (plug-in concept) supports the configuration of different work environments (perspectives). PRODIS.Authoring saves time and costs by enabling the use of a common database between engineering, manufacturing and service. The common use also leads to continuously maturing diagnostic data and application code.

PRODIS.RTS (Runtime System) serves as a high-performance diagnostic runtime system for all application areas. It is built in a platform-independent and modular manner. By varying the user interface and configuring the components correctly, its use spans application areas throughout the diagnostic life cycle (engineering, manufacturing & service). PRODIS.RTS is successfully applied world-wide in automotive high-volume manufacturing plants with an overall capacity of more than 100.000 vehicles per day. PRODIS.RTS is continuously adapted to new market needs.

PRODIS.OET (Open Engineering Tester) is an environment for the creation and execution of test sequences to verify the correct implementation of diagnostic and reprogramming functions of ECUs. It is primarily targeted at vehicle manufacturer and ECU supplier diagnostic engineering departments. The modular architecture (plug-in concept) supports the configuration of different work environments (perspectives). The seamlessly integrated diagnostic runtime system PRODIS.RTS permits the automatic and interactive execution of created diagnostic applications and verification procedures.

PRODIS.Control is the comprehensive management tool for the whole PRODIS system. It allows the central access to all relevant information concerning the test of vehicles in the assembly plants. It uses a state-of-the-art web based user interface, which intuitively guides the operator through all tasks. It is built with a modern architecture on the basis of J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) and the JSP Framework. This technology together with the support for all languages allows the administration of the PRODIS system from every point in the world.

DSA is a leading company in the area of diagnostic data format and software interface standardisation. The following standards were developed under leadership and intensive collaboration of DSA diagnostic experts: ASAM MCD-2D / ODX (ISO 22901-1), ASAM MCD-3D (ISO 22900-3), D-PDU API (ISO 22900-2).
