The increasing number of hybrid and electric vehicles in the overall vehicle production calls for innovative solutions for the battery test. DSA expanded the Mobile Diagnostic Tester MDT-A by a battery test unit, which allows for checking the batteries of hybrid and electric vehicles prior to assembly.

Usually a battery is monitored by its own electrical control unit, which reports information on the battery state on the serial data bus. To test the battery outside the vehicle, the ECU has to be supplied with power and a communication link has to be established. For this the BMDT is equipped with a quick exchange battery, connectors for battery and ECU as well as a measuring unit. It is connected to the back of the MDT-A, but can be easily removed by means of simple tools.

Without technical amendments to the MDT-A, the BMDT extends the functional range by the option to test batteries which are not assembled yet. Thus, in combination with the BMDT, the MDT-A is even more flexible to use.
